Women of Letters is an afternoon that celebrates a diverse range of strong female talent whilst simultaneously raising funds for Victorian animal rescue shelter, Edgar’s Mission.
Co-curated by Marieke Hardy and Michaela McGuire, the monthly occasion brings together five of Melbourne’s best and brightest writers, musicians, politicians and comedians in celebration of the beautiful lost art of letter-writing.

The darling buds of May are here, and by darling buds we mean darling DAMES! Yes, we’re back again for our monthly ode to letter-writing and we very much hope you can join us for this most enchanting soiree, featuring friends both new and old. The magnificent THORNBURY THEATRE will once again cradle us in its bosom for the afternoon, so join us, won’t you, for a literary rendezvous to remember. On Sunday, 29th May the WoL team bring together on stage for the first time: Actor, director and artistic director of Ilbijerri Theatre RACHAEL MAZA Author, social advocate and 2015 Queensland Young Australian of the Year YASSMIN ABDEL-MAGIED Award-winning film and television actress TRACY MANN Beloved film and arts writer PHILIPPA HAWKER Writer and co-editor of the Sovereign Apocalypse zine HANNAH DONNELLY These wondrous dames will each be penning ‘A Letter to My Monster.’ There'll be the usual wine/aerogramme-penning combo we’ve grown to love and a special musical interlude supplied by the wondrous DJ Sarah Smith.
